Eagle County’s Economic Locomotive – Vail!

by Peter Parker

There is no question that our Eagle County’s Economic engine is now firmly in the hands of Vail – at least for the short-term.  Construction (except for re-models) is at a virtual stand still this summer – compared to years past.

The Cordillera Real Estate sales train derailed by lawsuits – virtually stopped dead in its tracks.

Down Valley – Eagle/Gypsum – continues to absorb the brunt of the County’s home foreclosure rate.  County Property values continue to drop (thankfully at a slower rate) due to the fact our County continues to experience a net job loss.

Your County Commissioners endless addiction to spending millions more of your tax money on their so-called “open space” purchases along with their fascination with new (less restrictive) regulations for “medical marijuana stores” – stores, the ECT will remind you are still illegal under Federal Drug Law (Click Here) – proves nothing will improve economically in Eagle County – due to our Commissioners catatonic awareness and chronic inaction.

The Bright Economic Spot?  Vail.  Summer Activity is up, in part due to recently improved weather.  Folks need a break from all this imperfect news and are happy to share a nice day – or Vail’s Hot Summer Nite Concert (photo) – with friends centered on free/public activities in Vail.

Keep up the good work Vail – whether folks realized it or not – the rest of us are counting on your locomotive engine to help pull us out of our economic doldrums.  All Aboard!

WOW, I feel sorry for Eagle County then. Every time I go anywhere in Vail for something simple I need to speak Spanish, even at the grocery store.

    Thats why I avoid Vail.

I think you just dont understand how much illegals costs your county.

Kind of like when momma tries to balance the budget but dad goes out and drinks and gambles on the weekends. It dont matter how good momma does her job, you gotta cut dad off.

Marty knows this state spends hundreds of millions on Illegals and in Eagle county, its few to many millions.

A few millions will go a long way to getting Eagle County back on track.

ohh and PS, I wont be back to Vail, until I speak Spanish. 😛

??? Hmm were you working on a job site? Most of the time its the “other” foreign accents in town I can’t seem to understand…I think tourist like hearing from Sven while being checked in.

As for Vail, once you move away from the area you will realize just how good the Vail Valley truly has it. Hot Summer Nights and all the other free music throughout the year with “well known acts” taking place in town and around the community it’s hard to compare with any other ski town. Vail has them all beat. Even here in Crested Butte. However we do have some fun events which can be seen through the Mountain Weekly News site http://mtnweekly.com

So to the person that avoids Vail, where do you vacation Arizona…?
