ECT – Quote of the Week – U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL)

by Senator Marco Rubio

Topic:  Senator Rubio’s letter to the White House – January 6th 2012

Subject:  In the 3 years of the current White House Administration – this is the 6th request by the President to ask Congress to raise the U.S Debt Ceiling.

Rubio to the President…

“When you served in the Senate in 2006, you called raising the debt limit “a sign of leadership failure.” Using your own standard, this request will mark your sixth “sign of leadership failure” on the debt ceiling issue alone.  Throughout our history, Americans have revered courageous leaders and celebrated them as profiles in courage. Unfortunately, the first three years of your presidency have been a profile in leadership failure.

ECT Comment:  The 6th time he’s asked for a Debt Ceiling increase?  Didn’t this guy campaign on a promise of (Change?)

  1. Go Kemosabe and Rubio!

    (Obama really did say that-)

“America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better. I therefore intend to oppose the effort to increase America’s debt limit.”

  2. If you truly believe that Pres Mitt and VP Marco will never ask for and defend the need for their debt limit increase you are living in fantasy land.

      • Needed to pay for unfunded wars that he did not start. That’s gotta count for some of it? Do you think mitts pledge to destroy Iran and grow the military like never before is going to help reduce the deficit?? Get real as your side talks outa both sides.

  3. I am pretty sure they, or someone will raise the debt limit-

To further quote PolitiFact at the link above, ‘Obama’s not unique in using the debt ceiling vote for partisan posturing.’

And July 2011-NY Times: “How Often the Debt Limit Has Been Raised”

By the Treasury Department’s count, Congress has acted 78 times since 1960 to raise, extend or alter the definition of the debt limit — 49 times under Republican presidents, and 29 times under Democratic presidents

  4. ? re “Get real as your side talks outa both sides.”

Obama is not ‘Change’, he is the same as the others. And how did wars enter this thread?

    • Oh yes, I forgot.. wars and the military are free and are not even accounted for by republicans.. my mistake, so sorry.

  5. I am still not following you— Obama is for entering into other new wars, and always has been, so what diff does it make if he is a R, a D? I understand the color green tie-in, just not the rest.

    Read on:

    1) President Obama authorized a military attack on Libya

    2) The U.S. is preparing for an expanded campaign against al Qaeda in Yemen, mobilizing military ….

    3) U.S. Expands Its Drone War Into Somalia

    4) Obama Expands Missile Strikes Inside Pakistan

    5) The Washington Post – the Obama administration has substantially expanded the role of US special operations forces across the globe

    Obama as senator

2002: I don’t oppose all war; I am opposed to dumb war

Obama in campaign “meet the Press”
–MR. BROKAW: You want to add two brigades of American troops to the fighting force in Afghanistan.
    –SEN. OBAMA: Right.
    2008 Democratic primary debate

Barack Obama: Going after Al Qaeda in Pakistan is not Bush-style invasion

Sadly a lot of folks voted for Obama fully believing he opposed wars–

He didn’t then and he doesn’t today. (With or without a R behind his name)
