Of College Football, WiFi and Gondolas!

by the ESPN Skiing – Sports Reporters

As ESPN’s John Saunders would undoubtedly say…congrats to College Football’s – Notre Dame – Fighting Irish now 8-0 heading into the final games of the 2012 season.  Congrats to the Irish defensive linebacker – Manti Te’o now an undisputed candidate for the Heisman Trophy for College Football’s outstanding player of the year!  The Las Vegas line had the Oklahoma Sooner’s favored by 12 points going into last Saturday’s game…which the Irish dominated in Norman, Oklahoma (30-13).  The AP Poll has the Irish Ranked #4 in the Nation for this coming week.

You don’t need the educational background and alumni of a Kerry Donovan – to know that the Irish Nation is alive and well here in Vail and Eagle County, Colorado!  Speaking of Vail Town Councilmembers…former Vail Councilmember Kim Newbury’s Georgia Bulldogs took a bite out of the Gator Nation this past weekend with their victory over U. of Florida in a (17-9) victory in Gainesville, Florida whose Football stadium is known to Gator Nation fans as “the Swamp”.  Think Florida misses their (2007) Heisman Trophy winning Quarterback – Tim Tebow?  The ECT does!

Internet WiFi?  In Vail’s new Gondola cars?  Yup, if you look close enough in these photos – you can see the Antenna, hence the WiFi Access Point in each new Gondola car!  Speaking of WiFi – Visiting Amateur Radio aficionado’s should note the Ham Radio Repeater on Vail Mountain operates at 146.61Mhz  -600Khz offset, with a P/L of 107.2  – so CQ to y’all!  On any given Winter Weekend – you can listen in – to their Radio chatter from members of the (Ski Country Amateur Radio Club) giving each other their morning Ski Condition reports from Vail, Aspen Mountain, Snowmass, and SunLight Mountains.
